The advice that will transform your outlook on dating and relationships
Hayley Quinn, the UK’s leading dating expert, is the kind of women that men would queue up to take on a date.
Yet she’s made a career teaching people that successful dating is a product of hard work and proactivity. “The worst is the romantic comedy myth that one day, we will just turn a corner and walk smack into the love of our lives. You need to create a space for fate to happen.”
So how should us ladies go about meeting “The One”? According to Hayley, it’s a case of tailoring your approach to the person you want to date: “Think about where that person is hanging out, and how you can spend time in those places.”
And don’t even think about being acting coy. “Approachability is key. Just being able to meet a man, gain eye contact and smile will increase your approachability factor which will make him more attracted to you.
Although Hayley doesn’t denounce Tinder as a way to find potential dates, she recommends that people limit the time they spend on online dating: “if you’re going to do an app like that you should be doing it with a structure so it doesn’t end up dominating your life.” She also warns that you need to maintain your boundaries, if you don’t want to get caught up in a hook-up culture.
Hayley is an advocate of both making the first move and maintaining your self-respect. Her advice encourages women to reach out for what they want in their dating life, while encouraging them to assert what they don’t.
Her philosophy is what independent young women need in the 21st century. The good news is, you don’t have to be a supermodel to get what you want. You just have to get out there. “It’s like anything,” she says, “You have to be brave and start.”
